He knew he could laugh people’s knickers off and he did it gladly for years. But Lenny Henry (b. UK, 1958) left stand-up for theatre in 2014, tired of telling jokes and of working on his own. “I still like being funny on stage if it’s in plays, in the service of telling a great story”, he told the Birmingham Mail. Don’t worry, the ex-comedian’s sex appeal is intact.
