Josette Simon OBE is an actress who trained at the London Central School of Speech and Drama. She is best known for her role as Dayna Mellanby in the sci-fi series ‘Blake’s 7’. As a black actress she is at the forefront of so-called colour-blind casting, taking roles traditionally assigned to white people. In 1990 she played the female lead in Arthur Miller’s ‘After the Fall’ at the National Theatre, London, a role largely believed to be based on Marilyn Monroe, Miller’s former wife. Simon was awarded the Order of the British Empire for her services to drama in 2000.
