Nisha Kapoor is Lecturer in Sociology at the University of York, UK and was 2012-13 Samuel DuBois Cook Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Race, Ethncity and Gender in the Social Sciences at Duke University, USA. She is currently working on a book project which explores the continuities between rendition and extradition in the context of the War on Terror, with a specific focus on the relationship between Britain and the US. Working through, as its starting point, the significance of the racially ambivalent figure of ‘the Muslim’, the project sets out to engage with the borders and boundaries of legality and liberalism; the visibilities and invisibilities of the global security state; and the repositioning of postcolonial subjects in this context.
